RegistrationsIntroduction: Copper is a talented little horse who is ready to find his next partner. He is the ultimate ‘been there, done that’ competitive all-rounder with too many placings to list! Copper was bred by his current owner’s uncle and started by her cousin. He really is a part of the family!
Education, skills and experience: Copper’s owner has brought him on, slowly and correctly, over the last 3 years. He is currently competing in EVA95 to EVA95 eventing and 110 showjumping. Copper is ready to step up a level and has all the skills to do this successfully.
Dressage: Copper is well established in dressage with three even paces, consistently producing calm and accurate tests. He has a comprehensive dressage education to novice level. Copper willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride.
In eventing dressage, Copper is always a stand out, consistently scoring under 35 penalties (usually sits in the mid twenties) and up to 75%.
Showjumping: Copper is responsive and adjustable, competitive against the clock. He is trustworthy around the course and doesn’t stop. Copper has successfully competed up to 110cm. In showjumping he is careful and scopy.
Cross Country: On cross country, Copper is bold and honest. He is ready to go 1* with the right rider and he is training, at this height, with ease.
Copper absolutely loves jumping, and is a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse. He is very clever and quick with his feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. Copper can always be trusted to bring his rider home safely.
General demeanor under saddle: Copper is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. His paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the levels.
Copper is a willing and responsive gelding who is honest and aims to please. He is generally very quiet but is not completely unflappable to ride. Copper may react to rider nerves by becoming tense and may pigroot in the cross country warm up at the first event after a spell - simply due to excitement - nothing malicious and doesn’t unseat the rider. He is NOT reactive and has never reared, bolted etc.
Copper is easy to take off the property, and works well in a group or on his own. He requires no extensive warm ups. Copper is ridden on the flat in a loose ring snaffle. He is ridden in a dutch gag for cross country and also for showjumping above 95cm.
Copper is good with dogs, motorbikes and loves the beach. He is very social and makes friends wherever he goes, making him a great horse to camp with at competitions.
Current workload/ fitness: Copper is in work 1-3 days a week due to young horses being bought on.
Handling and general behaviour: Copper LOVES people and would sit in your lap on the couch, if you let him come inside the house!
Copper is ‘non horsey friend’ safe and easy to manage - straight forward to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe etc.
Feeding and management: Copper loves his food and is a good doer. His behaviour can change, when fed grain, so he is not fed this.
Medical history: Copper has been diagnosed with kissing spine on pre-purchase xrays and did have back injections as a preventative. However, we have discovered that he does not need these and is completely unaffected by the findings. He has regular body work like all performance horses.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident - Copper will be perfect for an experienced teen or young adult looking for a competitive partner. He is looking for a rider who is kind and confident. Copper has the trainability, ability & temperament to go up the grades in any discipline.
Reason for sale: Copper is an absolute delight! He was bred by his owner’s family and is dearly loved. Unfortunately, his owner/ rider does not have enough time for bringing on young horses and competing Copper. Sadly, this means that she has decided to find a wonderful home for Copper.
Copper would suit a competitive junior or adult rider who is looking for a straightforward and competitive horse to move up the eventing or showjumping levels.
