Kind, Intelligent Palomino Pony with a Big Heart and Loads of Potential

Location: Sunshine Coast
Breed: Welsh X Possibly Stock Horse or Quarter Horse — exact breed unknown, could be confirmed via hair test
Height: 14.1hh - borderline 14.2hh (i measured him myself with a proper tape 19/06/2025)
Age: Vet estimates around 5 years old
Discipline: Allrounder / Pony Club / Adult Riding Club
Rider Suitability: Confident and capable teen or small adult.

This lovely boy is quiet under saddle, responsive to the aids, and a real pleasure to ride. He’s done some jumping, flatwork, trail riding, and dressage — and always gives things a go.

Education & Experience
  • Sensible and rideable
  • Exposure to show jumping, cross country, flatwork, and trails
  • Fine with younger children at a walk, but better suited to confident riders for faster-paced work
  • Smart and quick to learn
  • Great in new environments, good on roads etc, fine around trucks, cars etc.

Ground Manners
  • Good on the ground, picks up feet easily etc. Can be unsure of being caught if he doesn’t know you, but once he knows you he will come up to you.
  • Cautious of men — improves quickly with kind handling and treats, cannot have a farrier who will give him a smack for being unsure etc.
  • Once bonded, incredibly affectionate — he’ll follow you around like a puppy
  • Can be paddocked alone or with company

Feeding & Care
  • Low-maintenance, easy keeper
  • Lives on grass and grassy lucerne
  • Gets 2 scoops Johnson’s Weight Gain daily (unrugged and currently winter) — would only get 1 scoop in warmer months.
  • Loves liquorice, his favourite treat.
  • Bare foot, has good feet, walks on rocks etc and is fine, trimmed every 6 weeks.
  • Dentals should be done yearly, next due April/May 2026.
  • Next core vaccines due April/May 2026, hasn't had the hendra vaccine.

Reason for Sale
Purchased for our beginner kids (5 and 9) and myself to ride here and there (experienced adult, 5'8", 65kg - I am a bit tall for him to be honest - not me riding in photos/videos, my legs go past his elbows lol). While he’s lovely for me, he’s too responsive for slow-paced, beginner confidence-building rides, I bought him sight unseen and was told he'd be fine, but he is too responsive to aids to have flappy kids on him. He needs a rider who can enjoy his potential and I want to get something slower and maybe a bit smaller.
