RegistrationsIntroduction: Charlotte is a fabulous warmblood mare with sensational breeding and miles of scope. She is vice free, fun to ride and has ‘low miles’ due to her owner’s university commitments. This sale presents an opportunity for someone to purchase a sensational mare at a very reasonable price.
Breeding: Charlotte was bred at Yandoo Park. She is by Quincy Z (Quickstar) out of Belcam Connie (Cooperit x Contango II). Quincy Z competed successfully to 140-160 level, over many years, with Jamie Kermond-Winning. Belcam Connie is now owned by Tulara and producing fabulous showjumpers such as Tulara Windstorm who competed to 165.
Education, skills and experience: Charlotte has been owned by her current rider for the last five years. Unfortunately, due to covid, floods and uni, her education has been inconsistent. It is a testament to her natural ability and temperament that this has not negatively affected her. She is unphased by fill, nonsense happening around her or being ridden in new environments.
Charlotte has attended jumping clinics, lessons and competed at ag shows and jumping competitions. She has competed to 95cm and trained to 105. Charlotte has a superb bascule and a massive amount of scope. She does not require any work down and does not have any vices on the ground or under saddle.
Charlotte is not worried by busy roads, farm life - tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock or dogs. She is happy to be kept and worked on her own or with others.
General demeanor under saddle: Charlotte is generally willing and responsive under saddle, however, she can be lazy at times and is ridden with spurs. She has a soft, snaffle mouth. Charlotte can be described as a ‘reliable and fun’
Charlotte can be left in the paddock for a month (or more!) and then saddled and ridden happily.
Current workload/ fitness: Charlotte is currently in work.
Handling: Charlotte comes to the paddock gate, ready to be caught and get to work. She is safe and easy to handle - to trim and shoe - wash, saddle, clip and load/ travel/ unload in an angle load float. Charlotte is a big mare, however, and can be lazy to lead. She doesn’t love being washed but tolerates it with good humour.
Behaviour: Charlotte is a very kind and affectionate mare. She loves people and is an absolute pleasure to have around.
Feeding and management: Charlotte is very low maintenance and can simply live on grass. At the moment she is fed lucerne hay, munga and chaff.
Medical history: Charlotte does not have any current medical issues. She did strain a hind tendon (no tear) in August 2024. She was given time off and is now working happily and soundly.
Rider Suitability: Charlotte would suit an intermediate rider - defined as someone who has been riding / competing regularly for at least three years, has independent hands and balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and canter on their own horse. Rider is confident if the horse is reasonably well behaved. Prefers a schoolmaster type without any major quirks. She may suit a novice under instruction, however, it would need to be someone who isn’t concerned by her size.
Reason for sale: Charlotte is much loved and very reluctantly for sale because her owner has finished university and will be working full time from mid July.sire
